BIO

Andy Hopkins is an Oklahoma-based musician, sound designer, and educator who specializes in studio recording, live performance, and cinematic mixing and sound design for film and music. Andy’s love for music began at an early age and eventually led him to pick up a guitar. He initially gained live experience playing for his high school’s pep band and honor show choir. As a young adult, Andy continued to explore live performance as a member of the hard rock band SIVA Addiction and was fortunate enough to tour across the US, opening for acts such as Papa Roach, Saliva, Drowning Pool, and Five Finger Death Punch, just to name a few.

During this time in his career, Andy fell in love with the studio process after making his first album with SIVA Addiction, Bad Decisions. This shift in focus eventually led him to The Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM@UCO) where he pursued a Bachelor of Applied Technology for Audio Production, graduating with honors. It was during this time Andy discovered audio post-production and began working on feature films as sound designer, foley artist and immersive mix engineer.

After graduating from ACM@UCO, Andy worked in several studios as a sound designer and recording engineer until eventually opening his own studio, where he primarily works as a sound designer and Dolby Atmos mix engineer. With over two decades of recording experience, and after working on over 50 feature films, shorts an documentaries, Andy decided to return to ACM@UCO, but this time as an instructor and Artist in Residence where he currently trains the next generation of sound designers and audio engineers in the areas of Studio Recording, Live Sound and Artist Management. Outside of the studio and the classroom, Andy still loves to pursue his passion for guitar, live music and entertainment with his band Saint Monroe.
